John oversees Genio's programmes in disability, mental health, dementia, homelessness and capacity building. He leads Genio’s work in the Service Reform Fund, a fund of €45m which implements social service improvements at a national level, in partnership with service users, families, the Health Service Executive and service providers. He is an adjunct assistant professor at the School of Business at Trinity College Dublin, where he lectures and researches in social investment and innovation in complex systems. John is the former international Director of Strategic Learning and Evaluation of the Atlantic Philanthropies, an international grant-making foundation where he worked from 1998 to 2012. He led the foundation’s evaluation, organisational and strategy development work across a range of systems reform initiatives in the United States, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, South Africa and Vietnam. John has received a PhD from Trinity College Dublin, an Executive MSc in Management from the HEC Paris and Oxford University, a MA in Economics from University College Cork and a BA in Economics and Politics from Trinity College.
Niamh is the Director of Action Research overseeing disability, mental health, Traveller health, Migrant health, and homeless programmes. Working in practice-based research her role focuses on informing and facilitating strategic discussion and promoting learning amongst change leaders, practitioners and experts by experience implementing reform in social service systems. She has worked in the Centre for Disability Law and Policy, NUI Galway, the School of Social Work and Social Policy, Trinity College Dublin and School of Medicine, University of Sydney, Australia. She obtained her PhD from Trinity College Dublin, and a BA Psychology in University College Dublin. Her research interests include complex systems change, public sector reform, service transformation, inclusive education, social justice and self-direction. She is a Research Fellow with the Centre for Social Innovation, Trinity Business School.
Cliona joined Genio in 2024 as Finance Manager and is a qualified Big 4 Chartered Accountant (Andersen) with 17 years experience in both not-for-profit and corporate environments. Cliona qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2002 and became a Fellow Chartered Accountant in 2012. As an audit senior in Adnerson, her clients included a variety of retail, manufacturing, and not-for-profit organisations. She then worked as Financial Controller for GOAL India for 2 years, followed by a year as Financial Controller with two subsidiaries of Treasury Holdings and then 14 years as Financial Controller for the Euro-Africa region of Atlantic Philantrophies.
Lynne joined the Genio team in May 2019 as a post-doctoral researcher on the Service Reform Fund (SRF) Action Research Programme in the area of homelessness. Her key responsibilities were to support the design, collection, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data relating to the Service Reform Fund (SRF) Action Research. Since 2023 Lynne has been leading out on the Action Research programme on the implemention of the National Traveller Health Action Plan (NTHAP).
Prior to joining Genio, Lynne worked in various research positions. She is an adjunct Assistant Professor at the School of Social Work & Social Policy at Trinity College Dublin (TCD), where she lectures on the Applied Social Research Masters and the Child Protection and Welfare Postgraduate Diploma. Lynne completed a Masters in Applied Social Research and holds a PhD from the School of Social Work & Social Policy, TCD. Her PhD research explored the female same sex experience of intimate partner violence in the Republic of Ireland. Lynne is highly motivated to work within research domains that have a focus on social justice and has worked in a research capacity in areas such as disability, domestic violence, homelessness, and LGBT equality and mental health.
Áine joined Genio in 2024 as a Programme Associate and has extensive experience of working in the philanthropic and non-profit sectors. Working with the CEO, Áine supports the European programme work. She also supports the Finance Manager in the areas of finance and governance. Prior to joining Genio, Áine worked at Atlantic Philanthropies as Operations Manager, playing a pivotal role in both Finance and Grants Management. She also has many years of experience in sports administration having previously worked for the Football Association of Ireland and Leinster Rugby.
Áine holds a BA in Social Science from Dublin Business School and a Masters in Rights & Social Policy from Maynooth University.
Jessica is the Programme Manager for the Strengthening Lived Experience programme. Jessica is an experienced senior manager with twenty years experience in service innovation, fund management, and strategic engagement in health, education, disability and community development. Prior to this role, Jessica worked as the National Project Manager with the National Office of Mental Health Engagement and Recovery, Mental Health Services, HSE. The central point of her role was to co-produce a review of the HSE MHS Engagement structure and activities, and to offer recommendations for service improvement nationally focusing on enhancing the current model of engagement.
Jessica is concerned with equity and believes in the transformative impact of hope, partnership- working and innovative practice.
Ciara joined Genio in 2020 as part of the Service Reform Fund Action Research Team in the area of disability. Prior to joining Genio, she was involved in international human rights monitoring during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has published widely on disability rights, disaster risk reduction, and independent living. Her work on disaster risk management was showcased by the United Nations Office of Disaster Risk Reduction. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Iceland where she also held a Marie-Curie scholarship to explore the implementation of the UN Convention on the Right of Persons with Disabilities in Europe, with a specific focus on Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
Louise joined Genio in 2019 as a programme administrator and in 2022 took on the role of programme associate. Working with the programme managers Louise assists in the organisation of programme training and events. Prior to joining the Genio team, Louise worked in the area of intellectual property, assisting in the management of patent and trademark protection, as well as marketing. Louise also has many years of experience in the hospitality sector having worked in restaurant management for over 10 years. Louise holds a BA in English, Media and Cultural Studies from the Institute of Art, Design and Technology Dun Laoghaire (IADT).
